2008 SYRAH Monterey- CURRENTLY RELEASED $32

100% Coast View Vineyard Syrah, bottled August 2010, 190 cases

This is a big ripe Syrah, and will stand up to any Cabernet. Lots of lush ripe fruit, don't be fooled by the AVA. This vineyard is located on the East side of 101 and gets plenty of sun. This wine would benefit from at least another year or two in the cellar, where it will continue to develop and gain complexity.

2009 GSM Central Coast- CURRENTLY RELEASED $38

48% Grenache, 36% Syrah, 16% Mourvedre, bottled August 2011, 200 cases.

2010 VIOGNIER-Paso Robles- CURRENTLY RELEASED- $26

100% Viognier from Hastings Ranch Vineyard, 260 cases.

Light gold. Honey and sweet butter complement aromas of ripe pear and apple, with a subtle quinine note in the background. Chewy, fleshy and dry pear skin and anise flavors show a slight warmth. Finishes smooth and ripe, with good cling and breadth. This is drinking well right now.

For decades quarter horses, cattle and cowboys roamed the grassy hills of the historic Kentucky Ranch. Today we are full of casual charm, reminiscent of California past and present. Since 2004 Thacher Winery with the grasshopper label,  has been hand crafting wines from superb dry farmed and head trained vineyards found on the Westside of Paso Robles and in Southern Monterey County. Our boutique production of Rhone blends and zinfandels demonstrate local subtleties and true westside terroir.

The award winning winery and tasting room are situated next to a 90 year old barn with spectacular and ever changing vistas of vineyards, hay fields and oak trees. Thacher Winery and vineyards celebrate everything we love about Paso Robles and are sure you will too.

The “KR” on our barn is a well-known landmark of old time Paso Robles. The Kentucky Ranch, our home and the future home to our winery, vineyard and gardens was part of a 4,000 acre Spanish Land Grant until 1869 after which it became a thriving horse breeding operation.

Our ranch includes the 1920’s KR barn, outbuildings, our home, barley fields and riparian habitat for deer, coyotes, bobcats, turkeys and the occasional mountain lion. The vineyard was planted in Spring of 2007, it consists of zinfandel and petite syrah.

Since 2004 Thacher Winery with the grasshopper label,  has been hand crafting wines from superb vineyards found on the Westside of Paso Robles and in Southern Monterey County. Our boutique production of Rhone blends and zinfandels demonstrate local subtleties and true westside terroir. Construction of the tasting room and 4600 square foot, solar powered winery was completed in 2008, just in time for our fourth harvest of about 33 tons of premimum wine grapes. Case production was about 1800 cases in 2008 - almost double the production of previous years. Currently we are pouring seven wines in the tasting room, including a couple of beautiful zinfandels from head trained and dry farmed westside vineyards and the smooth and complex, gold medal syrahs from Monterey County. We welcome visitors every weekend and you will nearly always find Sherman or Michelle in the tasting room.

We are honored to be able to serve the following wines in our VIP Patio during this year’s Rotary Art And Wine Festival at Tavern Bay Beach Club in Lake Arrowhead.
